Two months after Sailor V’s disappearance in England is the first time Venus opens her vault of memories to Minako. It’s not said what triggers it but there’s a suspect–a pin twisting in the thirteen year old’s heart when she notices that the moon is brighter than usual. She stares up at the sky and begins to hyperventilates but the tears that spill from her eyes don’t feel like hers.
“She’s alive.” She whispers but its not her who speaks it. Nothing about this feels like hers.
And when she sleeps, the memories flood in vivid, water colored detailed–her birth, her kidnapping, her obedience, her happiness, her death–and Minako drowns. She swallows’ Venus’ poison like its a thick liquor and wakes up howling, “You BITCH.”
She breaks, she thrashes, she rages, and she hates the moon–because suddenly there is no joy in this life. Suddenly there is nothing but battle wounds and sacrifice. Suddenly there is the old ghost of Venus and the new soul of Minako–and Venus is pitiless when Minako turns to her and cries, “I don’t want to die.”
She closes her eyes and she answers, “Neither did I.”
